We get a lot of people who have just been diagnosed with pancreatitis or who have been taking allopathic medicines for chronic pancreatitis coming to us, asking if we can help them.
How common is pancreatitis?
India has the highest incidences of Pancreatitis, ranging from 114-200/100,000 population.
Symptoms of pancreatitis:
Patients with pancreatitis suffer from severe pain in the upper abdomen and it radiates to the back. There is severe pulling, pricking kind of pain which is associated with vomiting or loose stools. You vomit whatever you eat. Sometimes the severity of the pain causes the person to vomit or pancreatitis itself causes vomiting. The diagnostic feature of pancreatitis is the pain going all the way back to the spine, vomiting, and loose stools.
Pancreatitis can occur in young kids, teenagers, adults, and older people also. It does not spare anyone. Alcoholics who get pancreatitis become very severe but in most people, there is no reason why pancreatitis happens. Certain foods are known to trigger the attack like spicy, oily food, meat, and sweets. It is different for everyone, it gets difficult to keep a track of the food that causes it. It just comes whether you eat or you do not eat.
Let us not get into why it happens, what changes happen, and all those things. Let us talk about what we can do about it.
Once you have a pancreatitis attack, you go to the doctor, get admitted in the hospital. They put you on an oral drip for about two to three days with painkillers and nil by mouth, you recover and go back home. But within a couple of months, you have the same pain again, you go to the hospital, get admitted, and recover. This keeps happening, there is nothing in allopathy to stop the recurrence of pancreatic attacks.
If it is just one attack, I would suggest, go to the allopathic doctor, he will take care of you but if you are somebody who keeps getting pancreatitis on and off every few months and getting admitted in the hospitals, how long will you go on getting admitted? You need to look for a solution.
We have been able to help a lot of people with chronic pancreatitis. The reason you have recurrent attacks is because of inflammation of the pancreas and there is a reason why the pancreas is inflamed. Homeopathic medicines stop frequent inflammation of the pancreas, improves your immune system so that your pancreas is not affected every time you eat something which does not suit you.
Once you start on homeopathic medications, the frequency and intensity of the attacks will come down. Over a period of time, they do not need to get admitted in the hospital, they can take care of the pain at home with homeopathic medicines and a few painkillers.
What happens if you dont treat pancreatitis?
(If left alone, recurrent pancreatitis can cause infection, severe diseases and can also lead to multiple organ failure.)
You need to figure out what suits you and what does not suit you.
Dos and Donts:
Drink a lot of water, live a healthy lifestyle, be positive.
Drinking alcohol can aggravate pancreatitis and cause another attack. Give up alcohol, because if you drink and get a pancreatic attack, very few people will sympathize with you, they look at you and say you deserve it. That is the one thing you cannot take when you are in pain, you need a lot of emotional support when you are in pain, so maybe you should give up alcohol.
What would I do if I were in your place?
I will try to avoid getting admitted in the hospitals as long as I can bear the pain. I will take homeopathic medicines and pop in a few painkillers and I will probably not eat much and try to tide over the acute attack.
Do not start on any allopathic medications until you have given Homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me, nothing is going to happen to you in these three to six months time. But if these medicines can help you avoid antibiotics, prevent recurrent attacks, and help you manage chronic pancreatitis for the rest of your life, isn't it worth giving it a try?
Take care. Stay safe.
