Kidney stones often occur when urine becomes too concentrated. This causes calcium oxalate or other chemicals in your urine to form crystals on the inner surfaces of your kidneys. Over time these crystals may combine to form a small, hard mass. Sometimes this mass (stone) breaks off and passes into the ureter, one of the two thin tubes that carry urine from your kidneys to your bladder.
About 80 percent of stones are a combination of calcium and oxalate (oxalic acid), a substance found in many fruits, vegetables and grains. Most other stones are composed of uric acid, ammonia crystals.
Homeopathy can be used to speedily expel an existing stone and is extremely helpful in preventing their recurrence. We get a lot of patients who have just been diagnosed with kidney stones or who went for a surgery and the kidney stones have come back again asking us if we can help them.
How common is kidney stones?
In India around 12% of the total population is expected to have kidney stones. More than one of every eight American men will develop akidney stoneat some time during his life.
What happens when you have kidney stones?
You could be an absolutely healthy person and you suddenly start getting a pain somewhere in the middle of the back, could be one sided or sometimes both. Pain sometimes can radiate up or down or it can go to the front. It may sometimes go down all the way to the urinary area. Sometimes the pain is in the lower abdomen.
The symptoms that happen in kidney stones:
The pain can be excruciating and along with this you might have a tendency to pass urine frequently and sometimes the urine may not come out freely. There could be burning while passing urine. Your entire back muscles may go into a spasm because of the pain and the intensity of the pain could be so bad that you might feel like vomiting, you may experience chills and may develop temperature.
Let us not get into details of why and how a kidney stone forms as it is not important to you but all you need to know is that kidney stones are a tendency and once they form most times they keep forming more and more in number and keep getting bigger in size.
As long as they don't get stuck, it does not cause any pain or discomfort and one never realises the existence of stones till an ultra sound is done.
Allopathic approach
When the stone gets stuck somewhere you experience terrible pain which continues for a few hours to a day you are forced to go to a doctor and he will give you a painkiller or a painkiller injection or give you something called citralka which will help flush out the urine and you feel better.
He will then diagnose you with kidney stones with an Ultra sound and will advise you to remove the stone with a surgical or laser procedure .You will be symptoms free or stone free for about five or six months and then you are back with the same problem again .
Let me explain to you, the logic behind why the stone is forming again and again .
Basically there is something wrong with the filtration that is why the deposits are getting accumulated which eventually form the stones.
You may be able to get rid of a stone or two with laser or surgery but how will you prevent another Stone from forming again simple logic think about it
I've got an entire Village who comes to me with kidney stones it may have something to do with the water or something to do with the tendency in those people.
Surgery is definitely not a solution to the problem unless the stone is so huge that it is very difficult to get rid of this. We get 12- 18.mm stones in our clinics.
Homeopathic approach
Like I said before we believe that kidney stones are caused because of a problem with the filtration there, you know the deposits are happening. So homeopathic medicines basically remove the tendency that means it corrects the filtration mechanism. Whatever is causing the stones is stopped. Then these medicines whatever stones are there. They kind of break those stones with the medicines and they pass through your urine. Now while they are passing through most of the times you won't even know it becomes powder and it will go off your urine might be a little cloudy sometimes.
Sometimes if a big stone also passes, it might cut the inner side inner side and cause a little bit of bleeding nothing to worry. So not only with the homeopathic medicines the existing stone goes away. But this also prevents further stone formation from happening. Homeopathy according to me is the only system of medicine that can stop further formation of stones.
Yes. It does not happen in a couple of months, even if the stone is gone you need to continue medication for a few months to see that further stone formation does not happen. We get a lot of patients coming every three months with kidney stones. We have got patients coming to us for the past 20 years, I've been passing kidney stones every few months. For some of them it doesn't even pain..they just say, oh we passed the stone, we are all right, but most of the time it pains and it can be very very painful also. Not a very pleasant experience. But homeopathy has got wonderful medication for it
Diet restrictions.
Now a lot of people say avoid palak, paneer and certain things that needs to be avoided but I would say not. It's an old school thought. Eat whatever you want, the only thing that you need to do is drink a lots of water. Barley water is good for you, buttermilk, watermelon juice, cranberry juice is good. These are things which will flush the urine, so the more water you drink the more your urine will get excreted and the more urine gets excreted, it takes the stone and gravels of stone along with it. So basically it's a flushing system.
So what you do is you focus on increasing your intake of water to flush out whatever stones are there. I don't suggest any diet restrictions and all. The only thing that I would say is drink plenty of water, the more water you drink the more chances of the stone flushing out.
So kidney stones pain, you take some painkillers whenever you get a severe pain whatever painkiller the allopathic doctor gives you.. within a few hours the pain will settle down don't panic after that. Don't think that oh the kidney stone is there that can cause a problem nothing will happen.
When I said before that an entire Village comes to me. Do you think those villagers will go and get themselves surgically operated? Nothing. All they do is take my medication drink a lot of water and all of them are doing fine. It is only people like us we get panicky and we go in for a surgery, within 4-6 months you're back to square one again that is not required at all. Kidney stones are something we are very confident of treating very very successful.
What would I do if I were in your place?
I would for sure not start allopathic medications or go for a surgery. I know that I am not risking anything by giving Homeopathy around 6 months to try and get rid of stones by fllushing them through urine.
If it does not respond then will go in for allopathic treatment.
Do not go for a surgery or start on any allopathic medications until you have given Homeopathy a try for at least about three to six months. Trust me. Nothing is going to happen to you in these three to six months time. But if these medicines can help you avoid surgery and prevent recurrence for the rest of your life, isn't it worth giving it a try?
